Our Team

TJMSOF is fortunate to be run entirely by volunteers, allowing substantially all the money it raises to be granted to one of its priorities:

  • Direct financial assistance to families undergoing pediatric cancer treatment at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital
  • Funding for research, equipment, community outreach and other needs of the Sarcoma and Solid Tumors Program at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital
  • The Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation

Karina Milano, CRNA

Director of Operations and Special Events Coordinator

Karina Milano, CRNA (Aunt Karina to Tristan) was a constant throughout Tristan’s treatment for osteosarcoma, whether it was a quick FaceTime call to check in, a game of Wordle, or the perfect gift basket being sent, she “was the bomb” according to Tristan. The mom to two active young men Hudson (15) and Cameron (13) Karina is always on the go with the family whether it’s through the PTA, sports and other activities, or baking her signature bread, she seems to have more hours in her day than the rest of us. She manages all of this while working as a CRNA at Raleigh Orthopedic and INC Health which she absolutely loves. Super organized and creative, TJMSOF could not ask for a better Operations Director and Special Events Coordinator to be at the helm. Karina looks forward to giving back to the Nicklaus Children’s community that took such good care of her favorite nephew during his fight with osteosarcoma.

Alex Milano

CFO & Treasurer

Alex serves as the CFO and Treasurer for the TJM Side Out Foundation. In this capacity, he is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Foundation’s financial operations and cash management. As Tristan’s older brother, Alex directly experienced what it takes for a family to fight Osteosarcoma. He is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the Nicklaus Community for the care they gave Tristan throughout his treatment. An avid sports fan, he is up for any activity at any time. He is currently a student at Florida State University where he is studying accounting.
